Overview

Honey Thai Food, nestled at 233 SW Washington St in the heart of downtown Portland, is a compelling spot for those seeking authentic Thai flavors with a personal touch. The restaurant offers a vibrant menu that balances classic Thai dishes like Pad Kee Mao, Panang Curry, and the ever-popular Pineapple Fried Rice with Tofu, alongside unique highlights such as Spicy Mango Chicken and Mango & Sweet Sticky Rice.

What sets Honey Thai Food apart is not just the quality of its fare but the warm, inviting experience customers consistently praise. The friendly team creates an atmosphere where guests feel genuinely welcomed—whether it's the affectionate “honey” nickname from the staff or the engaging conversations that linger beyond just taking an order. This personable approach transforms a simple meal into something memorable.

The food itself holds up under scrutiny. The spicy mango chicken combines a delicate heat with sweet, tangy mango, a harmony matched by perfectly cooked rice. Customers rave about the generous portions and the careful balance of flavors in dishes like the stir-fried eggplant with basil and the shrimp spicy basil fried rice. Signature drinks like the Thai Tea and Bubble Tea Smoothy complement the meal and add to the authentic experience.

The space is modest but functional, focused on quality and speedy service rather than elaborate decor. This keeps the dining experience approachable while fostering a lively downtown vibe.

Really tasty spot for lunch in downtown Portland. Friendly staff and our food was ready with little wait. I got the spicy mango chicken dish and it was very tasty. Rice was perfectly cooked. Coconut shrimp is a must!

The guy stayed open late to serve me and the food was good. I’ll also say I’m pretty happy because it’s cheaper than Seattle :)

I was floored by the wonderful service. The lady at the counter was incredibly kind; we chatted for a while. She endearingly called me "honey" every time she addressed me and had a huge smile on her face throughout the conversation. Once I told her it was my first time, she asked me how I found out about this place. When I said "Google" she cracked up! When handing me the food, she said "I hope you like it honey" and gave me an eggroll free of charge. Absolutely made my day. I had shrimp spicy basil fried rice and it was absolutely delicious. Affordable food with fairly generous portion size. Highly recommend this place. A+

I LOVE this place!!! The man who runs it is so nice. I go way outta my way to go there. Usually, I get pad Thai with tofu and an order of spring rolls (8/$5.) Mmmmmm, just thinking about those spring rolls makes me want to go get some. I highly recommend eating here.

Fun place but fairly pricey and the ice cream was not the best. It's known for it's quirky flavors, so it's a fun Oregon stop, but we definitely won't be regulars. I got recommended by a friend for a fun thing to do in Portland and it was a great experience! Long line, so plan for a short wait.

Food was good. Just regular Thai, nothing amazing, but nothing bad. Service is one guy, so only as fast as he can hustle. Portion size is fair.

Food is absolutely delicious. And with all main dishes being a flat $10 makes getting great food in Portland affordable. There is a little bit of a wait as the cart opporator makes everything fresh to order, but good quality is worth waiting for!

Best food in Portland, and I mean it. Best crab rangoons I've ever had, the rolls are the perfect crunch, the beverages are amazing. Affordable pad thai but spicy mango is the best thing on the menu. Go here.
